UHCW NHS Trust Rolls Out NHS FDP Inpatient Module Across Key Specialties

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust has launched the NHS Federated Data Platform (FDP) inpatient module across general surgery, ear, nose and throat (ENT), and plastics departments.

The rollout, reported by NHS England’s FDP team, marks the trust’s full commitment to FDP integration, with plans for a trust-wide implementation over the next year.

Enhancing Digital Infrastructure

The FDP platform, designed to integrate operational data from multiple NHS systems, will complement UHCW’s newly adopted electronic patient record (EPR) system. Together, these digital initiatives aim to strengthen data connections, enhance decision-making, and streamline hospital processes.

NHS England highlighted that the combined impact of FDP and EPR will drive transformational improvements, ultimately boosting operational efficiency and elevating patient care standards at UHCW.

A Landmark Development for the Trust

Dan Hayes, FDP senior responsible owner, emphasised the significance of this rollout: “The launch of NHS FDP is a pivotal moment for the trust. The programme will allow us to harness the power of digital and data transformation to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency.

“We are excited to see the positive impact this will have on our patients and services and are looking forward to the trust-wide roll out in the next 12 months.”

As UHCW continues its digital evolution, the integration of advanced data-driven tools is expected to shape more efficient, responsive, and connected healthcare delivery for patients and staff alike
