Keith Reid

Keith is the Deputy Chief Medical Officer (Public Health) at Welsh Government since April 2024. This is a new role to support policy development in Welsh Government through the provision of expert professional advice across all the domains of public health.
Prior to taking up this post he was Director of Public Health at Swansea Bay University Health Board. He was responsible for leading the Health Board’s preparations and response to the COVID pandemic and leading the Board’s activities and wider system engagement on improving the health of the population and tackling health inequalities. He oversaw the development and adoption of the Board’s first Population Health Strategy.
Immediately prior to coming to Swansea Bay Keith spent 6 years in the South Island of New Zealand working as Clinical Leader for the Public Health Team based in Dunedin, Otago. He has also worked in the public health system in England in London and the South West of England. A very long time ago he worked as a research scientist and then in hospital medicine.
