Ian McKay

Ian leads the Life and Land team within the Innovate UK Innovation Service. Life and Land manage a portfolio of programmes directly funded by Government Departments including the UK Vaccines Network, Obesity Healthcare Goals and the Farming Innovation Programme. In previous roles Ian led both the Data to Early Diagnosis and Precision Medicine and Accelerating Detection of Disease Challenges with the latter supporting the establishment of Our Future Health. Prior to joining Innovate UK he worked in the scientific policy team at the Department of Health (DH) with a focus on rare diseases and emerging technologies. He began his career as a lecturer in cell and molecular biology at Queen Mary, University of London. Ian has a PhD in Developmental Biology.
