Dr Sophia Lentzos

Working across the NIHR, Sophia has overall responsibility for embedding environmentally sustainability across the NIHR portfolio of work and is accountable for the NIHR meeting its own Net Zero commitments.

Sophia has a lifelong passion for environmental causes and sustainability.

Before joining NIHR, Sophia trained as a medical doctor and worked clinically as an anaesthetist. In 2021-2022 she became one the first cohort of Chief Sustainability Officer’s Clinical Fellows in Greener NHS where she continued work on sustainable medicines and helped form a national working group for sustainable anaesthesia.
