NHS Confederation Unveils AI Tool to Track Hospital Operations

The NHS Confederation has introduced a new AI-powered platform designed to help hospitals providing acute care analyse and learn from operational data.

Named Evolve Collaborative, the tool has been developed in partnership with medical technology firm Beamtree, leveraging the confederation’s expertise in healthcare improvement and collaborative learning.

AI-Powered Insights for NHS Leaders

Using artificial intelligence and machine learning, the platform enables hospitals to forecast trends, perform dynamic benchmarking, and access customisable dashboards tailored to the specific needs of different roles within NHS organisations.

The NHS Confederation—which represents healthcare providers across the NHS—emphasised that the tool will support health leaders, clinicians, and operational teams in benchmarking their performance, identifying variations, and making data-driven improvements.

Fostering Peer Collaboration

Beyond analytics, the Evolve Collaborative initiative will bring together peer-to-peer learning communities, facilitated by experienced improvement specialists. These groups will provide safe spaces for professionals to share best practices, explore variations, and co-design solutions to common challenges, ensuring the platform is aligned with members’ priorities.

Bridging the Gap Between Data and Action

Matthew Taylor, chief executive of the NHS Confederation, emphasised the need for actionable insights:

“The NHS needs bold, innovative solutions to meet the challenges it faces. The health service is awash with data but short on actionable insight, with too much focus on looking back and assuring and not enough looking forwards, learning and improving.

“The Evolve Collaborative seeks to empower clinicians, boards and operations leaders with the data they need. The collaborative will be driven by our members and will encourage them to be curious about who else is doing things differently, and to ask ‘why’.

“By combining predictive analytics with peer learning, we’re giving NHS leaders the tools and support they need to drive real, measurable improvement.”

To introduce the platform, the NHS Confederation will be hosting an online drop-in session on 26 June, providing healthcare professionals an opportunity to learn more about how the tool can support operational efficiency and service improvement
