HealthCare in Mind, a new dedicated mental health service offering private autism, ADHD, and other assessment treatments and therapies has launched in surrey.

NHS wait times for Autism and ADHD assessments

Healthcare in Mind is providing a necessary and much needed alternative for families and individuals seeking answers and support.
The service is now live and allows patients to access remote or in-person appointments instantly.
What Mental Health (MH) services are on offer?
A wide range of services will be on offer, including:
- Fully comprehensive diagnostic assessments for children and adults
- Therapy treatments to manage MH, including: depresion, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and mood disorders
HealthCare In Mind is led by Dr Simon Le Clerc MStJ and Dr Kate Higham, alongside an expert team of psychiatrists, psychologists and therapists to provide instant access to the highest quality care.
Quoted on the Healthcare in Mind website, Dr Simon Le Clerc MStJ, Medical Director at RMI, said:
Our mission with HealthCare in Mind is to create a pathway for more people to access mental healthcare without the extended delays that are all too common in the UK currently. For individuals and for parents, we know that there are wait-times of up to a year for a first appointment for ADHD, autism and mental health assessments, and after diagnosis there are further waiting lists for accessing the crucial therapy treatments to help people manage their conditions. By offering private, tailored neurodiversity assessments, we can provide families and individuals with the clarity and support they need to thrive.
What are the benefits of getting a diagnosis for ADHD?
According to Dr Kate Higham – a psychiatrist for the NHS’ Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) who also offers private assessments at HealthCare In Mind – in an interview with netmums, a diagnosis can be help you to understand yourself and others. She said:
Just having an understanding of how your or your child’s brain works can be really helpful. You can then understand their symptoms, they can understand what their strengths are, and then play to their strengths.
A diagnosis can provide access to support services and groups too. I know some people may not want the label or the stigma attached to it but from what I’ve seen the most, people want the diagnosis from the understanding point of view.
With children, environmental modifications can be made to reduce the impact of ADHD on their lives. For example, if they get easily distracted at school, they could be sat at the centre of the class at school. Or teachers could break down instructions for them, rather than overloading them with information.
