Decarbonising the NHS Cymru 2027 Conference

The HIL Decarbonising the NHS Cymru 2027 Conference will take place on 17th February at the Mercure Holland House Hotel, 15Hatfields, Cardiff.

NHS Wales (GIG Cymru) has committed to reaching a net-zero public sector by 2030 and a total net-zero carbon footprint by 2040 (or 2050 for some categories). The strategy, driven by the Decarbonisation Strategic Delivery Plan, focuses on 46 initiatives, including transforming buildings to low-carbon, switching to electric vehicle fleets, and sustainable procurement.

This conference will bring together 250+ Heads, Directors and Senior Managers of Sustainability, Facilities, Estates and Climate Change Policy from NHS trusts and health boards, special health authorities and primary care to discuss the progress has been made in strengthening healthcare resilience to the growing impacts of climate change.

Delegates in attendance will include:

Directors of Climate Change and Environmental Health Heads of Procurement & Supply Chain
Net Zero Travel and Transport Managers Corporate Governance and Business Managers
Heads of Contracts and Commissioning Heads of Operational & Clinical Waste Management
Decarbonisation & Net Zero Managers Energy & Sustainability Managers
Business Change Manager Heads of Capital, Estates & Facilities

Attendees will be given the opportunity where they can make a difference in their own trust or integrated care board and replicate evidence-based, best practice models of care and delivery to wider parts of the health system.

To strengthen collaboration across the UK’s health systems, this conference will form part of a dedicated series of events in England, Wales, and Scotland to review NHS policy within each nation.

These events will provide a platform for policymakers, practitioners, and stakeholders to examine country-specific priorities, share lessons learned, and highlight innovative approaches.

By bringing together insights from across the three nations, the series aims to foster mutual understanding, encourage cross-border knowledge exchange, and identify opportunities for collective improvement.
