Decarbonising the NHS
The HIL Decarbonising the NHS 2026 Conference will take place on 9th June at the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, 15Hatfields, London.
This annual event now in its 2nd year brings together 250+ Heads, Directors and Senior Managers of Sustainability, Facilities, Estates and Climate Change Policy from NHS trusts, Integrated Care Board’s, and primary care to discuss the progress has been made in strengthening healthcare resilience to the growing impacts of climate change.
The inaugural conference in 2025 allowed sector leaders, innovators, and changemakers to assess progress, share case studies, and discuss the ambition behind the NHS net zero journey.
Delegates in attendance will include:
| Directors of Climate Change and Environmental Health | Heads of Procurement & Supply Chain |
| Net Zero Travel and Transport Managers | Corporate Governance and Business Managers |
| Heads of Contracts and Commissioning | Heads of Operational & Clinical Waste Management |
| Decarbonisation & Net Zero Managers | Energy & Sustainability Managers |
| Business Change Manager | Heads of Capital, Estates & Facilities |
Attendees will be given the opportunity where they can make a difference in their own trust or integrated care board and replicate evidence-based, best practice models of care and delivery to wider parts of the health system.
To strengthen collaboration across the UK’s health systems, this conference will form part of a dedicated series of events in England, Wales, and Scotland to review NHS policy within each nation.
These events will provide a platform for policymakers, practitioners, and stakeholders to examine country-specific priorities, share lessons learned, and highlight innovative approaches.
By bringing together insights from across the three nations, the series aims to foster mutual understanding, encourage cross-border knowledge exchange, and identify opportunities for collective improvement.
